Cellist Justus Grimm was born in Hamburg in 1970.

He studied first with Ulrich Voss and Claus Kanngiesser, and later with Frans Helmerson in Stockholm and Cologne.

He made his solo debut in 1993 performing with the Hamburger Staatsorchester. Since then, he has performed as soloist with leading European orchestras including The English Chamber Orchestra, The London Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Wallonie and The Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester, Frankfurt.

Justus Grimm is a founding member of the string quartet, Malibran.  He is artist in residence for Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte, an Italian summer course for young singers, musicians, conducters and composers created in 1976 by the composer, Hans Werner Henze.

Professor at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp since 2008, Justus Grimm also became its director in 2013.  Mr. Grimm has received several German and Belgian prizes for his artistry.
