Daniel Blumenthal, Brussels - piano

Daniel Blumenthal (b. 1952) is a musician, equally at home as soloist with orchestra, in solo or duo recitals, accompanying Lieder, and as a chamber music partner and pedagogue. He began his studies in Paris at age 5, continuing at the University of Michigan and Juilliard where he earned his doctorate.

He returned to Europe to study in London with Benjamin Kaplan before going on to be a top prizewinner in the Sydney, Leeds, Geneva and Queen Elisabeth competitions. With over 50 CDs to his credit, Daniel Blumenthal's musicianship can be heard around the world; in major works and works he has helped bring to the attention of the public, such as Debussy's trio, which he premiered.  His partners include Barry Tuckwell, Pierre Amoyal, Jose van Dam and many others. Mr. Blumenthal is professor of piano at the Royal Flemish Conservatory, Belgium.
